San Bruno Fire Department Fire Cadet Opportunity The City of San Bruno, Fire Department offers an exciting opportunity to serve as a Fire Cadet, working alongside San Bruno Firefighters. The one-year Fire Cadet program is an unpaid, volunteer work experience that offers hands-on training, and introductory knowledge of firefighting skills, fire service tools and equipment. Cadets respond to emergency calls, render Basic Life Support, and participate in training and in the daily station duties. The cadet program is one year in length, and cadets must be willing to commit a minimum of 48 hours per month. Upon completion, this one-year program meets the certification requirement of one year part-time/volunteer work experience for California State Fire Marshal’s Office State Firefighter 2 certification. MINIMUM REQUIREMENT: • State of California Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or National Registry EMT certification. • Possession of a valid driver’s license and a driving record with minimal violations. • Possession of a Firefighter I Academy certification (or proof of “student in good standing” letter signed by an Academy Instructor if currently enrolled). • 18 years of age at the time of application.
