Argo Volunteer Fire Department
We are a small department in rural Titus County. We respond to all fire and rescue incidents in our district, as well as assist EMS when requested. We are in need of people willing to serve their community in a time of need. We mostly respond to grass fires and vehicle accidents. We are mutual aid to all Titus County structure fires and any other incidents upon request. We run two brush trucks, a 3000 gallon tanker/pumper, and a structure Engine. | Requirements: Willingness to serve and respond when available. No certification required to join. Courses required to be obtained within a year: NIMS 100,200,700, and 800, AHA CPR, Courage to be safe. Wildland fire training is required due to that being our most common fire call. Other training opportunities will be available through the department. Fire academy and Emergency Medical Responder are optional. A Volunteer firefighter is a trained and dedicated individual who serves their community by responding to emergency calls and providing firefighting, rescue, and emergency medical services. These individuals are not paid for their services but rather choose to volunteer their time and skills to help protect their fellow citizens. Volunteer Fire Fighting is a demanding and rewarding profession requiring high physical fitness, dedication, and commitment. Volunteer Firefighters must be able to think quickly, make sound decisions under pressure, and work well as part of a team. They must also be willing to put themselves in danger to protect others and be willing to put in the time and effort required to maintain their skills and knowledge. Being a Volunteer Fire Fighter is not just about fighting fires, but also about serving the community. Volunteer Firefighters often participate in community events and education programs, and they may also provide other types of emergency services such as search and rescue, hazardous materials response, and emergency medical services. They are often considered the backbone of the fire service in their community and are respected for their dedication and service. | Requirements: 1. Must reside in Hughes Springs or the Hughes Springs coverage area. 2. Must be at least 16 years of age for Jr. Members, and 18 for regular membership. 3. Must have a high school diploma or GED 4. Must not have any felony convictions 5. Must not have any class “B” or higher misdemeanor convictions within the last 5 years 6. Must have acceptable background investigation and driving record 7.
