New members will serve a probationary period equal to the time required for them to achieve the level of training required for their position with the Falkville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department. This period shall not be less than six (6) months. Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older. Reside no further than two (2) road miles outside of the coverage area of the Falkville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department. Possess a valid Alabama Drivers License. Meet current Alabama minimum vehicle insurance standards and be insurable. Must have at least a minimum of a high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalent. Active member will be defined by the General Falkville Volunteer Fire Department Station Policy Statement as adopted by the Board of Directors and General Membership. Must obtain National Incident Management System (NIMS) training courses consisting of IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800 and any additional courses as required by the governing body within sixty (60) calendar days of being approved for membership. Firefighter: • Must obtain minimum Pro-Board Certification for Firefighter I and II, Hazardous Materials Awareness / Operations, and medical training consisting of either First (1st) Responder, Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) or Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (EMT-B). Within two (2) years of department membership, Medical and/or First-Aid within one (1) year of department membership. • Must complete training or be enrolled for training within one (1) calendar year of being approved for membership. Medical: • Must obtain a minimum of Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (EMT-B). • Must complete training or be enrolled for training within one (1) calendar year of being approved for membership. Special Requirements This position will require that members wear and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as, but not limited to, steel toed shoes, safety glasses, gloves, Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), N95 respirator or other designated safety attire and equipment in designated areas of risk.
