The West Manchester Township Fire Department is a busy suburban 100% Volunteer Fire Department that responds to 850 calls for service annually. To do this we rely on highly dedicated personnel within the community. We are seeking “Home Responders” and “Live-In” members. Live-Ins – For exchange for responding to calls for service, station duties, and training, live-ins reside at the fire station for FREE. We provide 4 college style dorm rooms between our two (2) fire stations. Each dorm has a beds, dressers/wardrobes, desks, wired/wireless internet access. In addition to free room-and-board, WMTFD also offers a variety of other incentives for your time and dedication. These include paid training, uniforms, retirement plan, and much more. Home Responders – For exchange for responding to calls for service, we provide FREE uniforms, FREE training, FREE Life Insurance up to $10,000.00, FREE Retirement Plan, FREE Fuel Reimbursement and much more. Volunteers and interns in animal care help with the daily care and rehabilitation of wildlife. Duties include feeding, cleaning, and monitoring the health of animals under the center's care.

Support volunteers assist with various tasks around the center, including administrative duties and helping with events. Volunteers play a crucial role in supporting the center's operations.

Interns will assist in developing and delivering educational programs about wildlife conservation and rehabilitation. Responsibilities include engaging with the community and promoting the center's mission.

Volunteers assist with maintenance tasks around the center, ensuring facilities are safe and functional. Scout projects are welcome to contribute to the center's upkeep and improvement.

Provide behind-the-scenes support through tasks such as mailings, public speaking, and fundraising. Your efforts help keep Pappus House running smoothly.

Assist in planning the signature fundraiser held each spring, supporting Pappus House's mission through event coordination.

Assist in decorating Pappus House for holidays, helping residents enjoy festive celebrations. This is a seasonal opportunity for groups or individuals.

Engage residents in social interactions such as conversation, games, crafts, or music, enhancing their daily experiences. Volunteers can choose from 1-hour shifts throughout the day.

Prepare meals for residents several times a week, with guidance from a dietitian. Meals can be prepped at home and cooked at Pappus House.

Develop and coordinate volunteer programs, recruit and engage volunteers, and contribute to the monthly 'Volunteer Spotlight' or 'Pappus House Newsletter.'

Work alongside Care Staff to provide comfort and support to residents and their families. This role requires additional training and a larger time commitment, with 4-hour shifts available daily.

Help maintain the beautiful grounds of Pappus House by caring for herb, flower, and shrub gardens from April through October. Participate in Weeding Wednesdays or work individually.

Help plan the annual floating memorial event in October, contributing to a meaningful community gathering.

Prepare meals for residents' families twice a month, contributing to a comforting home environment. Dishes can be prepared at home and brought to Pappus House.

Provide companionship to residents in their final hours, offering a peaceful presence. This role is on-call as needed, requiring flexibility and compassion.

Assist with light housekeeping tasks to maintain a warm and loving home environment for residents. Volunteers work in 2-hour shifts daily.

Be the welcoming face and calm voice for visitors and callers at Pappus House, ensuring a warm and loving atmosphere. Volunteers work in 2-hour shifts throughout the day.

Assist in writing grant proposals to secure funding for the center's projects and initiatives. This role is vital for sustaining the center's operations and expanding its reach.

Create engaging and informative content for the center's website, helping to communicate its mission and attract a wider audience.
