Assist with the distribution of essential items such as clothing, toiletries, and food to those in need. Volunteers will also help individuals obtain replacement identification documents and assist with resume creation and job applications.

Drive individuals to appointments and work when public transportation is unavailable. Volunteers provide essential transportation support to those in need.

Participate in the annual census to provide a snapshot of the homeless community. Volunteers help advocate for resources needed to support unhoused individuals.

Support the distribution of over 3 million pounds of food annually to families in need. Volunteers help in food pantry services to increase access to healthy groceries and address food insecurity.

Dress up as Pedro the Penguin to teach preschool children about fire safety and smoke alarm checks. This interactive role involves educating children on fire escape routes and safety measures.

Support seniors in the community through various volunteer opportunities. Volunteers engage in activities that enhance the quality of life for older adults.

Mentor at-risk youth through afterschool programs that provide support services. Volunteers help foster leadership and trust among youth participants.

Empower women experiencing homelessness by supporting various programs aimed at developing self-sufficiency and enhancing children's futures. Volunteers are essential in providing program support.

Teach life skills classes to men experiencing homelessness. Volunteers commit to a minimum of 4 weeks to foster relationship building and in-depth learning.

Assist in organizing and managing autism awareness events, including setting up booths, facilitating games, and providing customer service to attendees. Volunteers will help create an inclusive and supportive environment for families.

Perform a wide variety of technical tasks and functions in support of fire suppression, fire prevention, hazardous materials, emergency medical and other emergency services. Respond to emergency and non-emergency incidents; provide appropriate services as required including emergency rescue and fire suppression; perform search and rescue for trapped or injured persons; perform emergency medical and first aid services as needed. Participate in cleaning and maintaining facilities, grounds, ensure that all equipment and apparatus is in a constant state of readiness for emergency calls. Provide cleaning services, regular visits, and companionship to elderly and disabled citizens. Volunteers may also offer small gifts and tokens of appreciation to enhance the well-being of those they serve.

Provide volunteer lawn care and garden services for elderly and disabled citizens who cannot perform these tasks themselves or afford to pay for them. This role involves maintaining lawns and gardens to improve the living conditions of those in need.

Assist with small home repair projects for elderly and disabled citizens in Harnett County who cannot afford these services. Volunteers will help improve the safety and comfort of homes through minor repairs.

We are a volunteer department that does pay per call and per meeting. Requirements are that you obtain 36 hours of training a year and respond to 10% of calls in a years time.
