We have several categories of membership available to prospective volunteers: --Firefighter --Junior Firefighter --Support --Fire Police | Requirements: Firefighter-- Members in this category are expected to attend and attend basic fire school which is generally held on the weekends. The time requirement for this training depends on your intended function with the department. Acquiring specialized skills and knowledge requires advanced training beyond the basic requirement. You will spend the majority of your first 6-12 months learning about the fire service, equipment, operations, and safety. Junior Firefighter-- Members in this category are at least 16 years of age and not yet 18. Junior members require working papers and are governed by child labor laws. Training and orientation to the fire service are the main goals of this program. Support-- Members in this category are expected to provide support to the department through activities such as fundraising, building maintenance/cleaning, public outreach, and fire ground rehabilitation. Training is dependent upon function. Fire Police-- Members in this category are expected to carry out traffic and crowd control duties as needed.
