Mineola Fire Dept
The Mineola Junior Fire Department offers youth from ages 14-17 the ability to start the firefighter training. All members will train with the members of the Mineola Volunteer Fire Department each week and given the opportunity to be apart of the "Ride Along" Program that allows them to respond to calls with the department. As a junior they part of our exterior firefighter classification; aiding in securing water supplies, setting up ladders, and assist fire truck chauffeurs. Junior firefighters are expected to attend trainings on Sundays and Mondays as well as special events. Additionally, Junior Firefighters go on several team building trip throughout the year. These trips include a summer kick off trip to Lake George at the end of June. The juniors are self funded by their annual Pasta Dinner which occurs in March each year. Your East Meadow Volunteer Fire Department is currently accepting applications for positions as firefighters and medical technicians. As a member you will receive expert training in your assigned duties. Not only will you train to become a firefighter or medical technician for your East Meadow community but you will earn the credentials to pursue a rewarding career in the emergency service field, if you choose to do so. It is not uncommon for East Meadow volunteers to use their training as a stepping stone to a full-time career in the police, fire, or medical emergency fields. | Requirements: You must be at least 18 years or older. Women and men welcome. Be in good health. You must be a US citizen. You must live within the boundaries of the East Meadow Fire District for at least a period of 6 months. Note: EMFD Boundaries also include Levittown from Division Ave West to Newbridge Road and Hempstead Turnpike North to Carnation Road, as well as Salisbury Park Drive North to Levittown Parkway. In Westbury our boundaries cover from Stewart Avenue South to Salisbury Park Drive. You must pass an East Meadow Fire Department sanctioned medical exam by the department physicians.
