The Volunteer Firefighter serves the community by responding to a wide variety of situations, ranging from emergencies that immediately threaten life or property to routine citizen requests for information or assistance. Volunteer Firefighters are required to learn and participate in the operation of apparatus and the performance of hazardous task under emergency conditions which may require strenuous exertion under such handicaps as smoke, fire, heat and cramped surroundings. Although firefighting and emergency medical services work constitutes the primary and most difficult and responsible areas of work, the volunteer is also required to drill at least twice a month for two hours. These drills consist of practice sessions dealing with various aspects of firefighting, rescue, hazardous materials awareness, and emergency medical work. Time spent at the station may consist of studying, custodial care and a wide variety of maintenance of departmental facilities, apparatus and equipment. Work is usually performed in accordance with explicit instructions and well defined procedures, however, performance of the work requires initiative and the exercise of independent judgment. | Requirements: Recruit Requirements:  Must be at least 18 years of age. The Fountain Lake Fire Department is looking for new volunteers to join our team. We are a volunteer fire department that serves the Fountain Lake community and surrounding areas. Our department responds to medical and fire emergencies within our district and assist outside departments as needed. The department has two stations and currently have 7 apparatuses. Station 1 is at 7146 Park Ave. 71901 and Station 2 is at 111 Surrey Rd. 71909. We meet every Tuesday night at Station 1 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Assist in various roles during the Big Steam Blues & Roots Music Festival, including event setup, attendee assistance, and vendor coordination. Volunteers help ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all festival-goers.

Provide a temporary home for rescue pets, helping them adjust to a loving environment. Foster volunteers work on socializing, house training, and learning about the pets' personalities to ensure successful adoption matches.

Assist with organizing and promoting low-cost spay/neuter clinics. Volunteers will help educate the public on the importance of spaying and neutering pets to prevent overpopulation and abandonment.
