The Paxtang Fire Company #1 is looking for volunteers who want to give back to their community to become an Active Firefighter, Driver / Operator, Junior Firefighter, EMT, Board Member, and or help in a fundraising / support role. The Paxtang Fire Company #1 is a 100% volunteer Fire Company founded in 1927, providing fire protection to the Harrisburg metropolitan and Central PA area. Our company operates 1 Engine, 1 Rescue, and a Utility vehicle. | Requirements: A willingness to serve the community is a must. Prior experience is preferred but not required. We will provide any in house training as required, as well as pay for certification courses through local community colleges or training facilities. The Hershey Volunteer Fire Company is the busiest all-volunteer department in Dauphin County, answering approximately 900 calls a year for service. We are also very involved in Fire Prevention year-round, as well as other public outreach events. There are many various jobs within the fire company and even little jobs provide a big benefit. Everyone receives appropriate safety equipment and training at no cost. Call us to schedule a tour of the station and to talk to a member of the crew. There is NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE required to join, as training will be provided to you and paid for by the Department. Firefighters are the ones to answer the call for help, putting out fires and performing rescues. Carrying hoses, climbing ladders and operating equipment are many of the jobs you will do. The Hershey Volunteer Fire Company, in an initiative to recruit and retain members, and in an effort to reduce response times and improve public safety, will provide facilities for approved candidates to live and sleep in the fire station. In exchange for free room and board, the live-in members will provide services to the fire company. The Hershey Volunteer Fire Company is the busiest all-volunteer department in Dauphin County, answering approximately 900 calls a year for service. We are also very involved in Fire Prevention year-round, as well as other public outreach events. Firefighters are the essential member of the department, responding to calls and preparing for responses. Live-ins provide 36 hours or more of "on-duty/assigned" time at the Hershey Volunteer Fire Company each week. Daily, weekly, and monthly chores are assigned.
