Emergency Medical Responders are responsible for front line treatment of sick or injured persons. Over half of our calls are medical in nature. They will be trained in life stabilizing treatments such as trauma stabilization, spinal immobilization, oxygen administration, CPR, airway support, and medical observation. They will respond to homes, vehicle accidents, as well as fires to assist in fire personnel rehabilitation (rest, hydration, monitoring for medical conditions while working on fires), as well as any potential injuries that may arise. Firefighters are our front line men and women. They will be issued property protective equipment and radio equipment, and have the option to receive alerts via their cell phone. They will respond to fires of all kinds, investigations, medical emergencies, traffic accidents, and others. We will provide the necessary training as well as make additional training available to interested candidates. Some members do not have the time or ability for various reasons to perform front line emergency work at short notice. However, they may have special skills or just a willingness to help that are still very valuable to the department. Auxiliaries members do not respond to the front lines of emergency scenes directly. These members typically do more of the 'behind the scenes' roles in the department. These include, but are not limited to: Office/clerical Station maintenance Equipment maintenance Special Events (parades, public events, etc) In certain circumstances, such as larger than normal fire scenes, they may be asked to bring fuel, food, water, or other items to a scene if they are available and willing to do such a role. Volunteers are members that are not employed by the Fire District on a full-time basis, but actively volunteer their time for District functions and activities. Volunteer staff members include the following positions Fill out Volunteer Application online at willardfire@willardfire.com **Volunteer Firefighter/EMS** The minimum qualifications to be a volunteer firefighter/medical responder for the Willard Fire Protection District are: Must be Firefighter I&II and current EMS Must be minimum age of 20 years old Must possess a valid driver’s license and auto liability insurance Must have a good driving record Must have no felony convictions and no class B (or greater) misdemeanor convictions in the last 10 years. Must successfully pass a background check Must be in good physical condition Reside inside the District. (preferred) | Requirements: Physical Requirements Must be able to lift, move, and climb ladders Must be able to climb through rafters, on roofs, and through small spaces Must be able to open and close valves and be able to advance with charged hose while discharging water Must be able to carry heavy loads up and down stairs Must be able to run and drag hose Must be able to hear alarms and respond Must be able to effectively communicate via two-way radio and over the phone Must be able to grasp and effectively use hand tools such as chain saws, pike poles, axe, rope, shovel, etc. Other Requirements Meet department training requirements (12 hours quarterly). Meet minimum shift requirements (24 hours quarterly). Members should respond when available, to stations when called in for station coverage. This occurs when first out units are on large-scale calls, including fires, major car accidents, or other incidents that require a unit to be out of service for a significant length of time. Participate in other department events as required or available. These include, but are not limited to, community events, public education, and event stand-bys. Volunteers will assist in various roles such as setup, hospitality, and managing rest stops during the festival. Volunteers will receive a shirt, lunch, and access to live music performances as a token of appreciation.

Assist with the care and well-being of dogs and cats at Valley Hills Animal Rescue. Responsibilities include feeding, cleaning, and providing companionship to the animals. Volunteers are essential to the rescue's operations and help increase the number of animals saved.

Assist in the care and well-being of cats by providing daily feeding, cleaning, and socialization. Volunteers will help ensure that the cats are healthy and ready for adoption.
