DVRT and SART volunteers respond to the police department or hospitals to provide emotional support, information on domestic violence, sexual abuse, community resources, and a safety plan. Teams are composed of trained citizens who respond to the police departments on an 'on-call' basis. All volunteers go through a rigorous screening process followed by an intensive 40+ hour training.

Volunteers will support the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of children, adolescents, and young adults with disabilities. No prior experience is necessary as training will be provided.

We are looking for volunteers to facilitate NAMI Connection Support Groups. Program leaders are required to be an adult individual with a mental health condition. They must have attended the support groups, have an active NAMI Membership, and attend the entire training session to be certified.

Family-to-Family teachers are required to be a family member or a caregiver of an adult individual with a mental health condition. Volunteers assist with the care of animals, including feeding, cleaning, and socializing with the animals. They also help with adoption events and community outreach programs.

Assist in maintaining the historic Essex County Rose Garden at Brookdale Park. No experience is necessary and training is provided. Volunteers meet at the Rose Garden at 8:30am on Wednesdays, with occasional Saturday sessions.

Help weed, mulch, and maintain Brookdale Park’s Pollinator Garden. Volunteers meet at 9 am every Tuesday, weather permitting. This project supports native plants and wildlife.

Help the BPC find and manage potential grant applications. Previous experience is a plus, but not necessary.

Coordinate volunteer outreach and manage on-site activities during events. Ideal for a self-starter who is well-organized and a good communicator.

Assist in maintaining the health and appearance of Brookdale Park’s landscape through rejuvenation pruning. No experience is necessary and training is provided.
