Ventilates burning buildings to carry off smoke and gases. Rescues individuals and provides appropriate emergency medical assistance. Performs property conservation operations such as placing salvage covers, sweeping water and removing debris. May drive ladder trucks, pumper trucks and emergency trucks in responding to fire alarms and in returning to the station. Attends instruction sessions concerning firefighting methods, equipment operation, first aid, and street hydrant locations, and maintains good physical fitness. Mt. Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department
Under the direction of a Lieutenant, Captain (if appointed), or Chief Officer, provides direct support services to the Department and the Department’s personnel individually or as a member of a team. Firefighter Support Members can be utilized in many different roles to support the Department both administratively and in response to fire, rescue, hazmat, and other incidents. Firefighter Support Members do not actively engage in fire suppression, direct rescue operations or other situations that would be considered a direct threat. However, they can assist Firefighters with pump operations, movement of equipment, rehabilitation, directing traffic and other operations outside of the hot zone as determined by the Incident Commander. We do provide training for these types of duties on a regular basis to our members.
