Volunteer firefighters report to their station's captain or company officer to receive instructions. Depending on the station, volunteer firefighters may drive the fire trucks to the scene. Volunteer firefighters also operate different firefighting apparatus, including hoses, ladders, axes and saws. Emergency Situations Volunteer firefighters respond to other emergency situations, such as car accidents and natural disasters. Volunteer firefighters rescue victims and provide first aid, including CPR. Extrication may require the use of rescue tools, like the Jaws of Life, and techniques that required training and practice. Maintenance In an all-volunteer fire departments, the firefighters are responsible for maintenance and care of the fire vehicles and equipment. Maintenance duties also extend to the fire station itself; common chores include mowing the grass, attending to the landscaping and cleaning. At a fire or accident, volunteer firefighters work to clean up the scene to prevent any additional damage and may have to shovel, sweep or remove debris. Manage and create content for social media platforms to increase awareness and engagement for Bald Girls Do Lunch. Your role includes developing strategies and interacting with the online community.

Steward Volunteers practice sustainable gardening, learn planting methods, perform proper pruning, and help conserve natural forests. They engage in hands-on activities to protect plants and restore native habitats.

Docent Volunteers give educational talks and act as tour guides for both children and adults at the Arboretum. They share their love and knowledge of the natural environment, heightening awareness of the need to conserve nature.

Ambassador Volunteers welcome visitors and answer questions about the arboretum and the Environmental Education Center. They help visitors feel informed and engaged during their visit.

Host a drive to collect newborn essentials, and sort and organize donated baby clothes. This program provides expectant moms with newborn necessities and important educational information to give their babies a healthy start in life.

Help assemble bags of fresh fruit and produce, and break down boxes at our Port Chester Medical Center on Thursday mornings. This role supports the Food is Medicine program in partnership with Feeding Westchester.

Assist with data entry, scanning, community outreach, and special events. Volunteers are needed to support various departments such as IT, Development, Finance, and Community Outreach.

Provide administrative assistance with data entry, scanning, and patient follow-up at one of our six busy health centers in Westchester and Putnam counties. Spanish bilingual preferred.
