Volunteers are essential to Sierra Delta, helping to foster connections between Veterans and their canine companions. Volunteers collaborate, connect, and celebrate with the organization to provide compassionate care and support to Veterans.

Assist in organizing and running hiking events at various state parks in Wisconsin. Responsibilities include setting up event stations, guiding participants, and ensuring the smooth operation of the event.

The week following the second Sunday in April is the annual work week in which various maintenance chores are scheduled. These tasks may include anything from splitting firewood, sealing the flagstone floor, washing windows, maintaining the trail to the lake, raking leaves or inventorying items in the cottage and cleaning kitchen cupboards.

The Seth Peterson Cottage Conservancy, Inc. is managed by a Board of Directors made up entirely of volunteers. Board members are elected at the Annual Meeting in December and serve for three-year terms and meet quarterly throughout the year. Volunteer as a tour guide during Open House days at the Seth Peterson Cottage, held the second Sunday of every month. Responsibilities include guiding visitors and assisting with set up, take down, and merchandise sales.

Help organize the Senior Life Center's library by arranging books, rotating stock, and ensuring movies are returned properly. This role is suitable for individuals of Middle School age and beyond.

Assist patients, visitors, and employees with information as they enter the hospital. Responsibilities include providing directions, making deliveries, and maintaining an organized lobby.

Assist with entertainment activities at the Senior Life Center by helping seniors with crafts, books, hobbies, and games. This role is open to individuals of Middle School age and beyond.

Assist with meal service at the Senior Life Center by preparing the food service area, plating food, and maintaining dining room cleanliness. Volunteers greet guests and ensure a welcoming environment.

Transport individuals on a Trishaw Bicycle, an electric-assist pedal bicycle for passengers with mobility issues. Volunteers must be 18 or older, have a valid driver's license, and complete Trishaw Bike training.

Assist individuals in the Senior Life Center to, during, and from church services every Wednesday. This role is open to individuals of Middle School age and beyond.

Assist in the 100% volunteer-run Gift Shop by helping customers, ringing up transactions, and maintaining product placement. Volunteers provide a warm presence for patients, families, and staff.

Engage with residents in the Senior Life Center through visits, conversations, and pen pal activities. This role helps ease social isolation among the elderly and promotes mutual learning and understanding.

Prepare cookies, bars, and other treats for donors at Red Cross Blood Drives held four times a year. This role is perfect for those who enjoy baking and contributing to community events.

Share your talents with the Senior Life Center community through music, plays, readings, or other performances. Volunteers are encouraged to engage seniors with activities they would enjoy.

Perform general gardening tasks such as watering and weeding. Volunteers should enjoy working with plants and be comfortable with repetitive tasks.

Process donations and keep shelves stocked in the adult thrift store. Volunteers commit to serving weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly for 2-4 hours.

Assist surgery patients, visitors, and employees with information as they enter the surgical area. Responsibilities include greeting families, monitoring the desk in the surgery waiting room, and helping families navigate the hospital.

Assist with light cleaning and sanitizing tasks in the Senior Life Center and other hospital areas. Volunteer hours will vary based on needs.

The Delton Fire Department has ongoing recruitment to fill current openings and establish an eligibility list for the position of paid-per-call firefighter. A Volunteer firefighter for the Delton Fire Department has the unique opportunity of working for one of the area’s busiest and exciting communities. DFD firefighters are provided high caliber training, top quality equipment, a state of the art fire station, ability to earn some extra money, and respond to a high number of emergency calls. Members have opportunities to participate in many functions, such as the Tech Rescue Team, Honor Guard, and Public Education Programs. Volunteers operate and maintain equipment and apparatus and perform other duties as necessary to carry out the mission and values of the department. The Delton Fire Department operates out of one station and covers 56 square miles which includes numerous large waterpark resorts and tourist attractions, several miles of Interstate 90/94, the popular Lake Delton, Mirror Lake and the Wisconsin River. The Delton Fire Department responds to over 300 calls a year, hosts annual community events at the station and participates in several special event details during the busy summer tourism season. Volunteer Benefits The Delton Fire Department offers many great benefits, but most members will say the biggest benefit is being able to help someone else during their time of need. • Get paid to take classes such as Certified Firefighter 1 and 2, Driver Operator, Fire Officer, Fire Inspector, Rope Rescue Technician, Incident Command, Forest Fire Operations, Auto Extrication, Hazardous Materials, CPR, and basic first aid. • All uniforms, protective clothing and equipment, and books are provided. • Free access to the employee fitness facility located inside the station. • Monetary Compensation o $20.00 is paid to each firefighter for the first hour of an emergency call. If the call extends beyond the first hour a firefighter is paid their hourly wage. o Hourly wage is commensurate with a firefighter’s training level and performance. The current wage scale is from $10.00/hourly for entry level firefighters to $17.00/hourly.
