Probationary Members are individuals 18 years of age and older who have an interest in exploring the exciting world of firefighting and the training to do it safely. We provide free training to ensure you feel competent and confident in all the ways you serve. And we’ll be right alongside you, offering all the support you need as you develop into a certified firefighter and contributing member. | Requirements: Individuals 18 years of age and older: Complete initial application for membership. After receipt of application, the applicant will meet with an interview committee of Fire Company Officers and Members. After the interview, the application will be voted upon at the Company’s next meeting. Under the supervision of the Fire Chief, the Volunteer Fire Fighter performs advanced firefighting work in preventing, combating, and extinguishing fires and responding to emergency calls which include vehicle entrapment and other rescue situations. Being a Volunteer Fire Fighter involves training for and participating in duties of protecting life and property through the performance of firefighting and emergency service activities. Volunteer Firefighters are will learn and participate in the operation of apparatus and the performance of hazardous tasks under emergency conditions which may require strenuous exertion under such handicaps as smoke, fire, heat and cramped surroundings. Participation in 20% of department calls for service in a calendar year is required to remain an active Fire Company member. Although firefighting and emergency services work constitutes the primary and most difficult component of our work, the volunteer is also required to attend company drills when offered throughout the year.
