Assist in the replacement of aging climbing anchors at Jackson Falls recreation area. Volunteers will help ensure the safety and sustainability of climbing routes by installing new, stainless steel hardware.

A camp counselor mentors one band, in partnership with the band coach. Counselors work to foster collaboration, communication, kindness, support, collective care, respect, and comfort in a non-competitive environment. Counselors must be patient, compassionate, and able to multi-task!

A band coach mentors one band all week and works to foster collaboration and communication among the band, ensures each youth is comfortable on their gear, facilitates songwriting, and preps for a stellar performance.

Workshop leaders are expected to create the curriculum and provide a list of materials needed for a variety of workshops at YRC Camp. Full week volunteers may teach workshops but we also welcome outside leaders.

Food crew members are responsible for keeping everyone fed during camp. They make sure to accommodate everyone’s dietary restrictions and keep the eating/kitchen areas clean.

An instrument instructor teaches beginning and/or advanced instruction on one instrument: guitar, bass, keys, drums, or vocals. We teach a rudimentary curriculum with the expectation that every camper has learned at least three chords for the week, can play in time, and understands gear basics (plugging in, tuning, troubleshooting).

Our Best Today, For a Better Tomorrow Exploring is all about helping young men and women ages 14 to 21 years old to make a more informed decision about future careers and determine if a particular career is the right one for them. As it pertains to the Fire Service, Explorers get to experience firsthand what it is like to be a volunteer firefighter through firefighting training and ride-alongs during actual fire calls.
