Probationary firefighters will be instructed to maintain the Pennsylvania State minimum in firefighting training requirements, as well as other training made available by the Department. They will have the opportunity to attend events and fundraisers. You could be a social member or an active member. Social members will work events and fundraisers, they will also have the ability to become a fire house officer, (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer or one of the three Trustees), when the requirements have been met. Active members will do the necessary training requirements to become an (exterior) or (interior) active firefighter. They also have the ability to become a fire house line officer,(Chief, Deputy Chief, Assistant Chief, Captain and Lieutenant), when the requirements have been met. The Volunteer Firefighter serves the community by responding to a wide variety of situations, ranging from emergencies that immediately threaten life or property to routine citizen requests for information or assistance. They perform within the scope of the policies and procedures of the Brockway Volunterr Hose Company and they perform duties in the following general categories: fire suppression, rescue, hazardous material responses, training, building inspections and public education.
