Volunteers will assist in coordinating efforts at local food pantries and soup kitchens to help distribute food to those in need. Responsibilities include organizing food supplies, serving meals, and ensuring a welcoming environment for all visitors.

Help with setup and cleanup at our adoption fairs held at local Petco stores. Setup occurs on Friday evenings or Saturday evenings, and cleanup takes about an hour after the fair ends on Saturdays and Sundays.

Provide a temporary home for a rescued animal until an adoptive home is secured or provide a short-term cage break for an overly stressed cat. Volunteers help save lives by taking animals directly from euthanasia lists at shelters.

Help transport cats for various needs including vet visits and transfers between locations. Most transport requests are flexible and can fit around your schedule, with the greatest need on weekends and during weekday daytime hours.

Join the adoption teams to help save more animals by screening adoption applications or assisting Adoption Coordinators with vet and rental reference checks.

Drive animals from shelter partners to adoption events, between Petsmart adoption centers, and to medical appointments.

Assist adopters during weekend adoption hours by talking to them about dogs and helping them meet the dogs at Fair Lakes Petsmart.

Provide support for adoption events and special fundraising events throughout the year.

We are urgently looking for volunteers to dedicate a couple of hours a week to help with administrative support tasks such as calling adopters, organizing training guides, and monitoring vet care for cats. Foster homes provide temporary care for cats and kittens until they find their forever homes. As a foster, you will supply food, shelter, and love while 4Paws covers all pre-authorized veterinary services.

The primary function of a Volunteer Firefighter is to protect the community from disaster situations, including house and building fires, and promote an environment of public safety within the City of Fairfax's response area. This position also participates in fire prevention, emergency medical treatment and training dealing with all phases of fire suppression, prevention, inspection, rescue and emergency operation. At this time, the department does not allow for EMS only positions. Assist in staffing events, helping children with service projects, and supporting the overall event operations. Volunteers may also serve as camp counselors or participate in committees.

Drivers lead the Hot Meals deliveries at Fairfax City locations. Evening shifts are available daily from 5 PM to 8 PM and Sunday mornings from 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM on an as-needed basis. Must be 21 or older.

Support the Administrative office at our Fairfax location by greeting guests, answering phones, and assisting with administrative tasks. Limited shifts available for individuals aged 18 and older.
