The Irishtown Fire Company is a 100% volunteer fire company. And just like every volunteer company, we are always looking to bring in new perspective members. And you do Not have to run into burning buildings to make an impactful mark within a volunteer fire company. We have many was that you can give back to the community aside from the whole "burning buildings" thing. From community outreach, fundraising, administrative; you can find your niche and shine. We have a Fire Police unit that assists the Firefighters with scene safety that is always looking for members, and we are in the process of re-starting our Junior Firefighter program where kids can join at the age of 14 and kick start their career in the Fire-Rescue service. But if you do want to become a full fledged Firefighter and just don't know how to get trained, we can help with that too. Assist Good Old Tails Senior Animal Rescue by organizing and participating in fundraising and donation drives. Volunteers help raise funds and collect items needed for the care of senior dogs and cats.

Help transport senior animals to and from the rescue. Volunteers will be notified of transport needs via the organization's Facebook page.

Help set up and tear down merchandise displays, and assist with sales before, during intermission, and after performances. Volunteers receive free concert admission and are invited to the annual HSO Appreciation Banquet.

Assist in running lighting and sound under the guidance of the AV Coordinator during performances. Volunteers can view performances for free and are invited to the annual HSO Appreciation Banquet.

Volunteers perform various tasks such as greeting and interviewing clients, packing food, and unpacking, sorting, and organizing food to support the mission of providing emergency supplemental food.

Engage with visitors at the George Spangler Farm, sharing knowledge about Pennsylvania barns. Volunteers are needed every Sunday during the summer season, with shifts available from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM and 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM. Training and resources will be provided.

Participate in pop-up work days for weeding, mulching, and pond clean-up. Volunteers can also adopt a garden to maintain.

Assist with events such as the Maple Sugaring, Adult Egg Hunt, Earth Day, Monarch Fest, and Duck Hunt. Volunteers will help with event setup, management, and cleanup.

Work with MTBMD to help keep trails clear and manage invasive species. Volunteers will be coordinating with a partner organization.

Assist with leading dipnetting rotations, crowd control, and animal presentations during field trips for children from Kindergarten through middle school. Training is offered in the spring and fall.

Assist in greeting visitors, answering phones, and providing general park information. Volunteers will be trained on the everyday functions of the Nature Center and will shadow a staff person before starting.

Assist with crowd control, first aid, and leading crafts/activities during summer camps. Experience working with children is preferred. Training is mandatory before camp days.

Help with activity preparation, assist with animal shows or hands-on activities, answer client questions, and manage trash removal and clean-up after parties.

United Hook & Ladder Company # 33 was formed in 2009 by the merger of the New Oxford Community Fire Company and the Abbottstown Fire Company. This merger was to provide more efficient operations and services provided to the residents and visitors to our response area. As of January 1, 2016 Bonneauville Volunteer Fire Company becomes part of United Hook & Ladder. We provide emergency services from our (3) Fire Stations. The main station (Station 1) and where our functions are held is at 21 North Bolton Street in New Oxford Borough. The Abbottstown Station (Station 2) is located at 38 East King Street in Abbottstown Borough. The Bonneauville Station (Station 3) is located at 10 Elm Avenue in Bonneauville Borough. We are an all volunteer department seeking new volunteer members. This includes members to be firefighters but also looking for volunteers to assist with public education, administrative needs and assist with our fund raising activities. We do not have excessive fund raising activities which sometimes deter people from volunteering. We only have 7 days a year in which we do fund raising, with 4 of those being our annual firemen's fair. We have a live-in program available at our New Oxford Station, great opportunity for college students. Not interested in responding on the trucks to emergencies? We have a job for you! Social Members are adults who do not desire to, or are no longer able to, participate in fire and rescue activities. They may hold administrative positions, assist with fundraising, and help the company run like a well-oiled machine. Social Members can help with our many events as much or as little as they are available. Fire Engines are expensive! We have multiple events all year long and all help is appreciated in any capacity.
