Purcellville Volunteer Fire Company
The Purcellville Volunteer Fire Company (PVFC) was established in 1923 after the Town of Purcellville endured a series of disastrous fires, the first in 1900 and then two more in 1914, which virtually wiped out the business district, depriving the Town of much of its earliest architectural heritage. PVFC is a non-profit organization established to provide a variety of fire and other emergency services to the Town of Purcellville and surrounding area. We currently operate as a combination organization within the Loudoun County Combine Fire and Rescue System. Both men and women, between the ages of 16 and 60+, staff our trucks, provide administrative support, and offer a variety of emergency services to the community. Purcellville (pop 9,040) is located 50 miles west of the Nation’s Capital along the Northern Ridge of the Blue Ridge Mountains and just a short drive from the Shenandoah River. The Company operates two Class A engines, one of which is a Rescue Engine, a Tower/Ladder Truck, a 3,000 Gallon Tanker, Brush Truck and Attack Jeep for woodland incidents, a Special Emergency Response Vehicle (SERV), a Command vehicle and a Utility vehicle. Must be able to run one 12-hour shift a week, usually 6:00 am - 6:00 pm. All training will be provided.
