Mentors connect with participants to offer friendship, advice, and support. This role involves a mutual agreement between the participant and mentor, with a focus on building a supportive relationship.

Facilitate discussions at weekly meetings using questions provided by professional staff. Engage participants in meaningful conversations to enhance their learning experience.

Provide participants with an in-depth opportunity to personalize weekly lessons. Volunteers should be knowledgeable in the subject matter and able to assist participants in applying lessons to their lives.

Assist with phone calls, research, marketing, graphic design, and paperwork. Share your expertise in administrative tasks to support the organization's operations.

Collaborate with professional staff to identify business partnerships and opportunities for participants. Help develop entry-level job and internship opportunities for skill development and experience.

Meet and greet participants, including young people and special guests, as they arrive for weekly meetings. Ensure everyone feels welcomed and valued before and during the meetings. This role requires a commitment of 2-3 hours once a week.

Assist with setting up tables, chairs, and arranging the room for weekly meetings. Help with putting things back and cleaning up after the meetings. This role is flexible and requires a commitment once a week.

Capture photos and videos of adoptable animals for online marketing. Event photographers are also needed to promote HFP and animal rescue efforts.

Conduct remote interviews with potential adopters, reviewing applications and conducting Zoom calls. Requires experience in fostering or working in shelters/rescues.

Assist with dog assessments at shelters and dog-to-dog introductions. Requires a reliable vehicle and relevant experience in the dog industry.

Participate in numerous events throughout the year, often held in collaboration with local businesses. Volunteers help handle animals and interact with participants. Commitment to 3+ events per year is preferred.

Design merchandise such as tees, stickers, and promotional materials. Help create advertisements and flyers to support the rescue's mission.

Provide transport for animals to/from vet appointments and shelters. Drives are needed daily between Davis, Sacramento, Bay Area, Modesto, and Fresno. Must have a valid CA driver's license.

Assist in the organization and facilitation of hands-on art workshops, including mosaic, candle making, and coffee painting. Volunteers will help set up materials, guide participants, and ensure a smooth workshop experience.

Provide NLC members with legislative updates and activities. Engage in advocacy efforts to support nursing leadership.

Maintain historical records of NLC and coordinate the nomination, selection, and award dinner process for the annual RN of the Year event.

Provide a slate of candidates for officers to the Executive Board and oversee the NLC scholarship application and selection process. Recognize members for outstanding achievement.

Enhance collaboration between academia and service to ensure a better educated nursing workforce in the Valley. Develop and provide educational opportunities for NLC members and the nursing community.
