It also has the most fire apparatus in one fire district with 21 trucks. The Greenfield Fire District covers a district of 82.910 square miles with a population of over 10,000 people. The Greenfield Fire District responded to over 1400 emergencies, making it the busiest and most active volunteer agency in Saratoga County. Participate in trail maintenance projects along the Kayaderosseras Creek, including trail drainage, stepping stones, bridge repair, and brush cutting. Volunteers will meet on Saturday mornings from July 13th through August 10th.

Adopt and maintain a lean-to in the Adirondack Park. Volunteers donate hours toward maintaining a lean-to, replacing registers, and reporting problems. Major construction is not required.

Educate the public about the importance of fire towers in protecting the forest and help recreators have a safe, enjoyable outdoor experience. Encourage Leave No Trace principles and inform visitors of DEC regulations.

Work with trained ADK trail crew leaders and other volunteers on trail maintenance and reconstruction projects throughout the Adirondacks. ADK provides leadership, group camping gear, tools, transportation from base camp, and food for multi-day projects.

Volunteer summit stewards protect vulnerable alpine plants by encouraging hikers to walk on solid bedrock above the timberline, answering questions, doing trail work, and participating in research on the summits.

Join the Trail Steward Program and adopt your favorite trail. Stewards clear blowdown, maintain drainages, and do other basic trail maintenance tasks. Their reports help determine where more intensive trail projects are required.
