Volunteers are needed to demonstrate quilting and other handiwork skills at the Santa Cruz County Fair. Volunteers will work 4-hour shifts, showcasing their projects, answering questions, and enjoying the fair. Free parking and admission passes are provided.

Work involves training for and participating in duties of protecting life and property through the performance of firefighting and emergency service activities. Volunteer Firefighters are required to learn and participate in the operation of apparatus and the performance of hazardous tasks under emergency conditions which may require strenuous exertion under such handicaps as smoke, fire, heat and cramped surroundings. Although firefighting and emergency services work constitutes the primary and most difficult and responsible area of work, the volunteer is also required to drill attending at least 70% of the drills. These drills consist of practice sessions dealing with various aspects of firefighting, rescue, hazardous materials awareness, and emergency medical work. Time spent at the station may consist of studying, custodial care and a wide variety of maintenance of departmental facilities, apparatus and equipment. Work is usually performed in accordance with explicit instructions and well defined procedures; however, performance of the work requires initiative and the exercise of independent judgment. Work on garden projects around the Visitor Center, including weeding, planting, and suggesting improvements. This task requires 2-4 hours per month, any day of the week.

Monitor nest boxes to provide nesting habitat for local cavity-nesting birds and gather data on their breeding biology. Volunteers follow protocols from Columbia University.

Join the bi-monthly Saturday work parties to eradicate non-native French Broom and maintain the park. Volunteers also remove barbed wire from the park's past as a cattle ranch.

Assist the Quail Hollow Trail Crew in developing and maintaining hiking trails and removing invasive thistle plants. Volunteers meet weekly on Tuesdays at 9AM.

Lead docent-led programs to educate visitors about the ecological value and cultural history of Quail Hollow Ranch. Programs include herp walks, star gazing, house tours, and history hikes.

Staff the Visitor Center to greet visitors, offer tours, and assist with educational exhibits and events. Volunteers set their own hours, with a minimum of 4 hours a month.

Capture interesting photos of places, plants, and animals around the park for social media. This role requires 1-4 hours per month, any day of the week.

Lead educational hikes on various topics such as astronomy, mushroom, flora, fauna, geology, history, and photography. Commitment varies from 2 hours a year to 2 hours a month.

Join Mutt Luv Rescue's life-saving efforts by volunteering to help rescue and care for animals. Volunteers open their hearts to provide love and joy to animals in need, making dreams possible for both the animals and themselves.

Edit videos to showcase the sanctuary's rescues and conservation efforts. Volunteers should have experience in video editing and a passion for storytelling.

Assist in organizing and executing fundraising campaigns to support the sanctuary's mission. Volunteers should be creative and have a knack for engaging with potential donors.

Create engaging animations to raise awareness about the plight of primates and the work of JACK Primate Sanctuary. Volunteers should be passionate about wildlife conservation and have a few hours a week to dedicate.

Write articles and news content to highlight the sanctuary's efforts and the challenges faced by primates in the DRC. Volunteers should have strong writing skills and a passion for animal welfare.
