Emergency response calls can come in at any time of the day or night and must be responded to immediately. Sleep and personal activities may be frequently interrupted. Standard Operating Guidelines are adopted and each member must be familiar with them to be able to efficiently do their job. Once on an emergency scene, Firefighters and EMS members are responsible for gathering information from witnesses and other sources. The firefighters/EMS members must think quickly and obtain the appropriate information to mitigate each unique situation. After emergency calls, firefighters/EMS members must clean/resupply equipment to ensure it is in a ready state for the next call. Firefighter/EMS members are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
