Snohomish County Fire District 19 is looking to recruit several part-paid volunteer firefighters. The district’s service area is predominately rural and the boundaries include the unincorporated Snohomish County area between the cities of Marysville, Arlington, and Stanwood, Washington and include the town of Silvana, Washington. The district responds to approximately 750 calls for service per year and provides an excellent ongoing in-service training program as well participating in training activities with surrounding fire departments. Part-time firefighters work between 5 and 12 shifts per month and because the shifts are on a scheduled basis, personnel are not required to live within a given residential or response area. Shifts are broken into 12 hour shifts as follows: 0600-1800 and 1800-0600; scheduling of shifts is flexible and can be traded between individuals. Depending upon their qualifications part-paid firefighters receive a stipend of $80.00 to $120.00 per shift. Job Duties: Two part-paid firefighters are scheduled for each shift and may take positions on an engine, tender or aid car depending upon the nature of the call received. This is a unique opportunity to gain experience as a firefighter, driver-operator, company officer or a member of an aid car crew including providing BLS ambulance transport, and driver operator of the air unit. Part-paid firefighters are also responsible for routine maintenance of the fire station and fire apparatus and for minor repairs on the apparatus. | Requirements: Minimum Requirements • 18 years of age • US Citizenship • High School Graduate (or equivalent) • Valid Washington State Driver’s License with acceptable driving record • Current CPAT card or pass department physical ability assessment • Current IFSAC Firefighter I or Washington State EMT certification and the ability to obtain the other certification within one year • Pass a background check Application Process • Application can be obtained at Fire Station 94, 2720 212th Street NW, Stanwood, WA at any time Monday-Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or downloaded from the web site: www.firedistrict19.com. • Return the application station 94. • Openings are continuous; however the next series of applications will be reviewed January 1, 2016 with oral interviews scheduled for the week January 11th, 2016.
