Assist with the preservation and presentation of historical artifacts and exhibits at the Augusta History Museum. Volunteers may help with organizing events, guiding tours, and maintaining the museum's collections.

Work involves training for and participating in duties of protecting life and property through the performance of firefighting and emergency service activities. Volunteer firefighters are required to learn and participate in the operation of tools, apparatus and the performance of hazardous tasks under emergency conditions which may require strenuous exertion under such handicaps as smoke, fire, heat and cramped surroundings in all types of weather. Minimum participation is required to remain an active member. Although firefighting and emergency services work constitutes the primary and most difficult and responsible area of work, the volunteer is also required to attend training a minimum of 2 evenings per month. Meetings are held every Tuesday night. Training and work nights consist of practice sessions dealing with various aspects of firefighting, rescue, hazardous materials awareness, and emergency medical work. Work performance requires initiative and the exercise of independent judgment. In the performance of their duties, the firefighters set up equipment, lays and connects hose; operates high-capacity pumps and directs water streams; raises and climbs ladders; uses fire extinguishers, safety belts, lines and hooks and uses self-contained breathing apparatus. Work is hazardous and often requires physical exertion. The firefighter may enter burning buildings as part of a fire suppression team, perform ventilation tasks above ground, carry heavy objects and equipment and rescue injured or trapped victims. Assist in shallow water, helping start skiers and providing safety support. Training and life jackets will be provided. This role involves riding on jet skis, ski boats, and assisting in deep water.

Handle the registration of all participants and volunteers on arrival, assist with filling ice chests, and help with food setup and cleanup. Volunteers will be the first to arrive and the first to leave.

Capture pictures and videos on shore and in boats to create positive memories for skiers and their families. Professional status is not required, but we ask for memory cards or video creations after the event.

Assist instructors with fitting skiers and teaching them basic ski skills and hand signals on dry land. Volunteers will be trained on using and transporting equipment and helping skiers transfer in and out of equipment on land.

We need boat drivers with ski or tube pulling experience to assist in our adaptive water skiing events. Training on adapted water ski methods will be provided. Your boat must be registered with Lake St. Louis and have a valid LSL sticker.

Experienced boat personnel are needed to pull the pin, spot skiers, and handle the ropes during our events. A 'jumper' from the Wet Shore Assistance group will also assist in the boat.

Assist with special events such as the Bash at the Boulevard by helping clean tables and ensuring a pleasant environment for attendees. This event celebrates Lake Saint Louis's 50th anniversary.

The Mid America Teen Community Emergency Response Team is an advanced community training program that teaches all citizens, who are at least 12 years and older, to assist their families and emergency services in the event of an emergency and or natural disaster before professional first responders arrive. Our goal is to train students how to respond to any emergency situation effectively and efficiently, without placing themselves in unnecessary danger. Some of the knowledge taught contains how to handle most emergency situations, including treating the medical killers and providing medical aid, managing utilities and putting out small fires, searching for and rescuing victims safely, assisting people with special and functional needs, preparing for acts of terrorism, and collecting disaster intelligence to support first responder efforts. | Requirements: Individuals must be at least 18 years old and should live in the St. Louis, Missouri or surrounding area. Must have completed the FEMA G-317 CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) Basic Training Course. Must have completed the CERT Train-the-Trainer course in person or E428 through EMI. The primary function of a Wight City Fire Protection District Firefighter is to protect the community from disaster situations, including house and building fires, and promote an environment of public safety within the Wright City Fire Protection District response area. This position also participates in fire prevention and inspection activities, equipment and quarters maintenance, and training dealing with all phases of fire suppression, prevention, inspection, rescue and emergency operation. An employee in this classification performs the duties of other employees in the Chandler Fire Department when so assigned.
