Raise awareness for the Food Bank at special events. Volunteers will help with various tasks to ensure events run smoothly and effectively promote the mission of the Food Bank.

The Moyers Corners Fire Department is a 100% Volunteer Fire Department serving our community since 1948. We currently have openings at each of our four fire stations located in the Town of Clay, Onondaga County, New York. No experience necessary, we provide the training and equipment. The MCFD currently has 150 members that include volunteer firefighters, emt's, paramedics, and fire police. The Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Medicals Services are some of the most diverse and challenging jobs today. For this reason many people are drawn to volunteering in the fire service for many different reasons. Some by family or friends, others for the desire to help and serve their fellow citizen, while some just enjoy the adrenaline rush that comes with responding on a seconds notice to an emergency.        Volunteering in the fire service is an excellent way to give back to your community. Many people like the feeling of helping someone else, especially in their greatest times of need, and this is what the fire service is all about. Not only do you get to help others but you get to meet new people, people from many different ways of life. You get to experience and learn new things, being a part of something bigger than yourself. Not only is the fire service rewarding in what you do on emergencies but you also build strong bonds with your fellow firefighters. The fire service has a very deeply rooted history of many traditions and values, one being brotherhood. This bond is stronger than no other. The people you hang out with at the firehouse, the team that you respond with on calls, begins to become a second family once you join and the firehouse becomes a home away from home. Whatever motivates you to volunteer, everyone gains self-satisfaction of being their best when other are dealing with what may be the worst times of their life.       When it comes to responding to emergencies, no one call is the same. Everytime the alarm goes off, we are faced with a different challenge to solve. We stand ready to respond 24/7, everyday of the year, in every weather condition possible. Anytime the alarm sounds, we respond. We train on many different types of emergencies ranging from structure fire, to heart attacks, to car accidents, to childbirths and any other imaginable emergency in between. Day or night we may have to use these skills, and very often under potentially stressful and emotional circumstances. Yet these are just some of the many factors that make this profession so personally rewarding.       Volunteering in the fire service may be one of the most important decisions you may make in your life, however you won't regret it.
