The Beattyville Fire Department is a 100% volunteer department and is looking for new members dedicated to providing professional level fire protection, extrication, rescue, and other essential services to the City of Beattyville and the surrounding county of Lee County Kentucky (through automatic aid agreements). For those wanting to join with no previous experience within the fire service or relevant certifications, we will work with you through in-house training and state fire commission based training to get you the knowledge and skills needed for being a firefighter. Being a 100% volunteer department, we do not expect everyone to be able to attend every meeting, training, incident, etc. We expect members to prioritize based on "family first, job second, fire service when you can". We do not expect someone to take off work or neglect family obligations to attend meetings, training, etc if their are conflicts, but do ask that if you are able, that you attend fire department events as much as you can. | Requirements: Background check with no major offenses Probationary period of 60 days for new members of recruit rank, in which the "Basic 20" training hours must be completed. Jr. Firefighters are allowed to participate in training alongside the Firefighters and serve in a limited capacity on an emergency scene. Becoming a Jr. Firefighter gives youths a head start on completing training to become a firefighter. All needed training is conducted at the fire station. It also allows youths to build a resume, learn job skills, be eligible for scholarships, and gives access to job opportunities. All needed equipment is provided by the department.
