Fosterburg Fire Protection District
Volunteers are on call by use of pagers. They respond directly to emergency scenes or to their closest station. Residency is required to be in District or living in any connecting city, township, or Village. Duty shift volunteers have no residency restrictions, however, they are not on call for emergencies and will not be issued a pager. Duty shift volunteers schedule themselves to work a minimum of 24 hours a month at either of the stations. They may be called in the event of a large incident. Operators are on call and trained to take over pump operations at emergency scenes. They are responsible for maintaining proper water flow and supply. Troy Fire responds to over 300 emergency and routine calls for help each year. Volunteers have a monthly association meeting and 3 fire training sessions a month on Thursdays. For new Firefighters, training is also held every other Monday on the basics. There is a significant amount of time and training needed to teach the modern firefighting tactics and learn how to be safe while engaging in an exciting and dangerous profeesion.
