The Bethel Fire Department and Bethel Volunteer Emergency Services Association is looking for individuals interested in becoming volunteer members of the department. We offer free training in firefighting, emergency medical services, hazardous materials responses, rescue techniques, CPR, and more! As an Emergency Medical Technician or Emergency Trauma Technician, you will be responsible for assisting the career personnel with responding to emergent and non-emergent medical incidents within the community. The Bethel Fire Department is a State of Alaska Advanced Life Support Ground Ambulance Service and has emergency medical personnel certified from Emergency Trauma Technician (ETT) and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-1, EMT-2, EMT-3) to Mobile Intensive Care Paramedics. Volunteer training occurs twice each month in formal EMT meetings and during various scheduled certification training courses throughout each year. Volunteer personnel are expected to complete two 12-hour duty shifts each month and attend at least 50% of training meetings. | Requirements: - Applicants for ETT training must be at least 16 years old and have no felonies or serious misdemeanors. - Applicants for EMT training must be at least 18 years old and have no felonies or serious misdemeanors. - Applicants must submit an application, current immunization history, DMV driver's history, and a criminal history report. - All applicants must have the ability to pass a department physical ability test prior to entry to training. - All applicants must attend all initial training classes and have all skills verified by an instructor prior to applying for certification. - Once certified, members will be paid a performance-based monthly stipend. | Categories: EMT
