Monitor boat landings to ensure compliance with lake regulations and prevent the spread of invasive species. This position offers a stipend of $12/hour.

Pack food supplies into backpacks for the Kids Backpack Program, which provides weekend food for Birchwood School students. This role is crucial in ensuring children have access to food when school is not in session.

Assist in monitoring the water quality of the lakes. Volunteers will collect water samples and record data to help maintain the health of the lakes.

Help restore and maintain the shorelines and islands of the lakes. Activities include planting native vegetation and preventing erosion.

Assist in staffing the pantry on distribution days, helping clients with grocery selections, emptying carts, weighing orders, and loading them into vehicles. Volunteers also maintain the cleanliness and organization of the pantry.

Participate in board meetings and committees to guide the strategic direction of the Red Cedar Lakes Association. Volunteers will collaborate on initiatives to enhance lake management and community engagement.

Assist in organizing and running local events such as the Bluegill Festival and Christmas Fest. Volunteers will help with setup, coordination, and cleanup.

Work on projects to improve fish habitats in the lakes. This includes activities like placing fish cribs and monitoring fish populations.

Help disseminate information on lake safety and regulations to the community. Volunteers will engage with lake users to promote safe and responsible lake activities.

Engage with local businesses and residents to promote chamber activities and gather feedback. Volunteers will distribute flyers, attend community meetings, and assist with social media outreach.

Assist in monitoring and managing aquatic invasive species in Red Cedar, Balsam, Hemlock, Bass, and Mud Lakes. Volunteers will help identify and remove invasive species to protect the lake's ecosystem.

Make home deliveries to one or two families in the area who are home-bound and unable to come to the Pantry during regular hours. Deliver food to shut-ins twice a month on days when the Pantry is open for distribution.

Assist in educating children from Washburn County school systems about water quality and the importance of protecting our waters. Volunteers will help facilitate field days at Hunt Hill Audubon Sanctuary.

Assist with special events such as the Ham and Scalloped Potato Dinner and Auction in May, the Pie and Ice Cream Social in July, and the Cranberry Festival 'Wine By The Glass' booth, the historical society's biggest fundraiser of the year. Volunteers can help on an hourly, weekly, or monthly basis.
