We are seeking individuals that are service and community-oriented and have a passion for helping others. A Firefighter serves the City of Black River Falls and surrounding townships by responding to a wide variety of incidents, ranging from emergencies that immediately threaten life or property to routine citizen requests for assistance, to prevent and minimize the loss of life and property by fire or other hazards. This position is a paid per-call volunteer position. This is not an employment contract and is subject to change at any time under the Fire Chief's discretion. To maintain proficiency as a Firefighter, a Firefighter is expected to respond to incident calls, attend weekly training, and attend business meetings. Still, the Department recognizes that family and employment will, at times, need to have priority over responding to incident calls, attending training, and/or attending business meetings. The City of Black River Falls / Black River Falls Fire Department is seeking part-time Emergency Medical Technicians and Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians. The service area consists of over 1,000 square miles, with a population over 20,000. The service responds to 2,200+ calls annually. Successful candidates will possess the knowledge and skills necessary to provide Emergency Medical Care to patients in a wide variety of environments. Responsibilities will include respond to 911 calls and provide emergency medical care within the Scope of Practice for an EMT or AEMT as outlined by the State of Wisconsin. Additional roles include participating in public relations events, standby at special events, and maintaining department equipment and property. Hours of work vary with available shifts from 10:00 pm-6:00 am Monday thru Friday, and 6:00 am -6:00 pm and 6:00pm -6:00 am Saturday, Sunday, and Holidays.
