We are seeking individuals that are service and community-oriented and have a passion for helping others. A Firefighter serves the City of Black River Falls and surrounding townships by responding to a wide variety of incidents, ranging from emergencies that immediately threaten life or property to routine citizen requests for assistance, to prevent and minimize the loss of life and property by fire or other hazards. This position is a paid per-call volunteer position. This is not an employment contract and is subject to change at any time under the Fire Chief's discretion. To maintain proficiency as a Firefighter, a Firefighter is expected to respond to incident calls, attend weekly training, and attend business meetings. Still, the Department recognizes that family and employment will, at times, need to have priority over responding to incident calls, attending training, and/or attending business meetings. Participate in the annual river cleanup held each summer to help maintain the health of the Black River. Volunteers will assist in removing debris and litter from the river and its banks.

Join the Earth Day Cleanup held in the spring to support the conservation efforts of the Black River. Volunteers will work in teams to clean designated areas along the river.

Participate in the Adopt-A-Highway cleanup held twice a year to help keep the roadsides near the Black River clean and free of litter. Volunteers will be provided with safety gear and instructions.

Join the Water Action Volunteer group to monitor the health of streams in the Black River watershed. Volunteers will collect data and report on water quality and stream conditions.

The City of Black River Falls / Black River Falls Fire Department is seeking part-time Emergency Medical Technicians and Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians. The service area consists of over 1,000 square miles, with a population over 20,000. The service responds to 2,200+ calls annually. Successful candidates will possess the knowledge and skills necessary to provide Emergency Medical Care to patients in a wide variety of environments. Responsibilities will include respond to 911 calls and provide emergency medical care within the Scope of Practice for an EMT or AEMT as outlined by the State of Wisconsin. Additional roles include participating in public relations events, standby at special events, and maintaining department equipment and property. Hours of work vary with available shifts from 10:00 pm-6:00 am Monday thru Friday, and 6:00 am -6:00 pm and 6:00pm -6:00 am Saturday, Sunday, and Holidays. Support the KC Fitness Snowshoe Race by helping with registration, timing, and participant coordination. Volunteers will ensure the race is conducted efficiently and safely.

Lead groups on winter hikes, ensuring safety and providing information about the trails and surrounding nature. Volunteers should be comfortable with outdoor activities and guiding groups.

Assist in organizing and managing activities during the Jackson County Winter Fest. Volunteers will help set up, guide participants, and ensure the event runs smoothly.

Help third-graders at Red Creek Elementary enhance their reading skills. This tutoring role involves engaging students through selected books and fun activities, with a focus on building confidence and literacy.

Support third-graders at Red Creek Elementary in Black River Falls by serving as a Read to Success tutor. Volunteers will engage with students weekly to enhance their reading skills.
