They perform within the scope of the policies and procedures of Blue Hills Fire District and they perform duties in the following general categories: fire suppression, rescue, hazardous material responses, training, building inspections and public education. The Volunteer Firefighter normally works under the supervision of a company officer and is expected to function effectively as part of a highly trained team. They are also expected to perform their duties under adverse conditions and physical conditions that may pose a high risk of personal injury or exposure to hazardous conditions or infectious diseases. The Volunteer Firefighter is required to attend regularly scheduled training in order to maintain the high level of knowledge, skill and ability necessary to function safely and effectively as a firefighter under state law, and standard operating procedures. Join the adoption team to help ensure that the right families adopt the right dogs. Responsibilities include conducting vet checks, reference checks, and phone interviews to match families with adoptable dogs.

Help save lives by providing a temporary home for dogs until they find their forever families. Fostering allows us to rescue more dogs and is a critical part of our program.

As an event dog handler, you will spend time with rescue dogs at adoption events, ensuring they have positive interactions with potential adopters. Training will be provided at your first event.

Support the rescue's efforts through social media marketing, email marketing, and public relations. Proven experience in these fields is required.

Join the transport team to help transport dogs from shelters to foster homes or adoption events. A valid driver's license and a safe vehicle are required.

Assist in organizing and coordinating the collection and distribution of diverse children's books to underprivileged children and organizations across the United States. Volunteers will help manage book donations and ensure they are shipped to the appropriate recipients.

The Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company is always in search of motivated individuals to assist us in our mission of providing professional emergency services to the Town of Simsbury. | Requirements: Becoming a member in the Company requires a large investment of time and effort from both the individual and their family. Depending on the class of membership, members are required to attend a certain percentage of drills and incidents each year to maintain good-standing in the Company. The Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company holds on average, forty-eight in-house training drills and meetings per year on Monday nights. There are also several other in-house drills held as needed throughout the calendar year. Assist in organizing and managing awareness and fundraising events to support Lyme Disease education and research. Volunteers will help with event setup, attendee coordination, and information dissemination.
