Some members do not have the time or ability for various reasons to perform front line emergency work at short notice. However, they may have special skills or just a willingness to help that are still very valuable to the department. Auxiliaries members do not respond to the front lines of emergency scenes directly. These members typically do more of the 'behind the scenes' roles in the department. These include, but are not limited to: Office/clerical Station maintenance Equipment maintenance Special Events (parades, public events, etc) In certain circumstances, such as larger than normal fire scenes, they may be asked to bring fuel, food, water, or other items to a scene if they are available and willing to do such a role. Emergency Medical Responders are responsible for front line treatment of sick or injured persons. Over half of our calls are medical in nature. They will be trained in life stabilizing treatments such as trauma stabilization, spinal immobilization, oxygen administration, CPR, airway support, and medical observation. They will respond to homes, vehicle accidents, as well as fires to assist in fire personnel rehabilitation (rest, hydration, monitoring for medical conditions while working on fires), as well as any potential injuries that may arise. Firefighters are our front line men and women. They will be issued property protective equipment and radio equipment, and have the option to receive alerts via their cell phone. They will respond to fires of all kinds, investigations, medical emergencies, traffic accidents, and others. We will provide the necessary training as well as make additional training available to interested candidates.
