Instead of responding to alarms from your home, our Out of District Members commit to 20 hours of duty time at the station each month. Responding to emergency calls is only one part of being a member of the Town Line Volunteer Fire Department. Keeping skills sharp requires hours of dedicated training. All of our firefighters must go through a state certification process and maintain the required annual training. Our members also each take a part in the day-to-day operations of the department including vehicle and equipment inventory and maintenance, building and grounds upkeep, committee work, public relations events, and more. Volunteers at WNY Heroes engage in various tasks such as dog walking, food distributions, answering phone calls, event support, filing, and basic administrative duties. Volunteers should possess skills like patience, creativity, and a desire to help veterans and their families.

Assist with setting up, serving, and cleaning up after weekly luncheons for senior citizens. No cooking skills are needed, and lunch is provided for volunteers.

Help keep public spaces clean, including the waiting room, entry, restroom, hallway, and food pantry. This role can be shared among 2-3 individuals.

This role involves interacting with different people, directing them to appropriate services, and performing light administrative tasks. You need to be neat, reliable, and have some computer skills. Training will be provided.

Coordinate fundraising efforts, including ongoing projects like FunDrives and bottle deposit collection. New ideas are always welcome, and you will form a committee to undertake different projects.

Work with others to obtain funding for projects by writing grants. Knowledge and understanding of grant writing are required.

Pick up donations from various sources and transport them to the food pantry. Requires the use of your own vehicle, and mileage is tax-deductible.

Volunteers help set up and organize the clothing closet. This involves lifting, carrying, and organizing donations, requiring 10-20 hours total for setup and ongoing maintenance.

Support special events by assisting with event setup, registration, and guest services. Help ensure events run smoothly and provide a positive experience for all attendees.

Assist instructors with art classes for youth and adults, including setup, material preparation, and providing support to students during class. Help foster a creative and supportive learning environment.

Assist with maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the ballet studio. Tasks include sweeping, mopping, and general tidying up to ensure a clean environment for dancers.

Help distribute marketing materials and posters throughout the community to promote upcoming performances and events. Volunteers should be comfortable with public interaction and have reliable transportation.

Assist with the set-up and organization of special events, including performances and galas. Tasks may include arranging seating, setting up decorations, and other event preparations.

Capture high-quality photos of ballet classes, rehearsals, and performances. These photos will be used for marketing materials, social media, and promotional purposes.

Assist with the setup and breakdown of exhibitions, greet visitors, and provide information about the artworks and artists. Help maintain the gallery space and ensure a welcoming environment for all visitors.

Provide assistance backstage during performances, including helping with costume changes and managing props. Volunteers should be organized and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
