Looking for anyone willing to give some of their extra time to become a volunteer firefighter. The department will give you training once a month two (2) hours. County fire training services will hold Basic fire essential class in which you must complete within two (2) years in order to stay in the department. Throughout the year the country will give other classes to help improve yourself in interdepartmental promotions. | Requirements: All new applicants must be eighteen (18) years of age, must have a physical by your own physician, a completed background check for arson, and any sex offenses. In order to drive any department vehicles applicants must have a valid drivers license with little or no offenses. All applicants must fill out an application and return to the department at the monthly meeting so that our member can get to know who is wanting in the department. The Fire Chief will conduct the background check for arson and sex offenses. New applicants shall be voted on the following month by members of the department, if applicant is voted IN. Your application goes to the Fire Commission to be voted on. The Fire Commissioners will vote on and the applicant WILL get a letter to let know if you your a new member. Volunteer mentors, known as Bigs, spend a few hours each month with a child, known as a Little, to build a friendship and support their personal growth. Bigs are required to commit to at least a 1-year mentorship and meet with their Little 2-3 times per month.
