The following briefly describes the types of membership categories: Please refer to these categories when requesting information. | Requirements: Active (18+ years old) Firefighter Job Description Under direct supervision, responds to fire alarms and other emergency calls to protect life and property; combats, extinguishes and prevents fires; drives emergency apparatus, including fire engines and ambulances; participates in rescue extrication operations and provides emergency medical care to the sick and injured; and performs related work as required. Licenses and Certifications Possession of a valid motor vehicle driver’s license at all times if operating department owned vehicles. Must successfully complete the Virginia emergency vehicle operations course (VEVOC) prior to operating department owned vehicles. Must successfully complete a criminal history background investigation. Recommended to obtain certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automatic electronic defibrillation (AED) within first year of membership. Must successfully complete the Virginia Department of Fire Programs Firefighter 1 or equivalent prior to being eligible to enter an immediate danger to life hazard (IDLH) incident. The volunteer Computer Technology Trainer will be part of a team of volunteers teaching adult students how to use computers, the Internet, and Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel. The lessons are held once a week for 1.5-hour sessions. Experience using computers and a belief in the gospel and the mission are desired.

The volunteer Technology Trainer will assist adult students in using their devices such as tablets and smartphones. Ideal candidates should be technology-savvy and enjoy helping others.

Escorts will work in tandem with Patient Greeters to move patients from one station to the next after they have been registered, screened, filmed, triaged and treated. Volunteers should be between the ages of 16 and 100.

Direct vehicular traffic for parking in pre-defined areas and assistance as needed for attendees, staff and others. Requires the ability to stand for long periods and work in inclement weather. Volunteers should be between the ages of 16 and 100.

Volunteers will assist with setting up and breaking down equipment, tables, chairs etc. Ability to lift over 15 lbs and tolerate physical labor is required. Volunteers should be between the ages of 16 and 100.

Greeters will be positioned in the Entrance lobby to greet patients and at each waiting area to keep the tables populated when space is available and the seating area clean and disinfected. Volunteers should be between the ages of 16 and 100.

Collect all registration forms and waivers from Dental Assistants, distribute resource material and ensure patients have all necessary follow-up materials before exiting. Volunteers should be between the ages of 16 and 100.

Volunteers are needed to provide companionship to hospice patients and their families. Tasks include playing cards, reading, preparing light meals, and running errands. Volunteers will receive training and support while committing to at least 6-10 hours per month.

In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring and responding to emails, engaging with the community on various issues and programs, and supporting animal welfare communication.

As a Care-A-Van Transporter, you will use our van to transport dogs and cats to clinics for monthly Spay/Neuter runs. You will work with our Care-A-Van Coordinator to ensure the smooth intake and return of animals for transport runs. A clean driving record is required.

The Volunteer Grant Writer will work closely with our President to create a funding target and source grants to fund community programs. You will use your grant writing skills to make a positive difference in the lives of pets.

As the Social Media Guru, you will engage our community and advocate for animal welfare through various social media platforms. Your role will involve content creation and promoting fundraising campaigns.
