Applicants who are accepted must be willing to devote time to training, fire calls, fundraising, community relations events, monthly meetings, and called drills. Successful candidates shall serve a probationary period of twelve (12) months beyond successful graduation from the Connecticut State Fire Fighter I course is strongly encouraged. Continuing education and training classes are offered regularly through the department. | Requirements: MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS •Must be a New Milford resident for at least one year immediately before the date of application. *** •Must be sponsored by a member in good standing. •Must complete a physician's physical examination. •*** 1 year residency can be waived under special circumstances.
