Every Taylor County Firefighter started right where you are with no experience, probably with no thought of ever being a firefighter, just a good heart and a willingness to help if you could. We need Fire Truck Drivers, Support Firefighters helping load and carry hose and tools to the firefighter, checking stations and equipment, operating the fire engine pump, not just firefighters going in to burning structures. We need those too but it’s not a requirement. As a Volunteer Firefighter, you will be a vital member of our team, responding to a variety of emergency situations, including structural and wildland fires, medical emergencies, motor vehicle accidents, and natural disasters. You will participate in regular training sessions, monthly business meetings, and community outreach events, all while maintaining an appropriate standard of physical fitness. This is an unpaid position - you will work odd hours, for no pay, but you'll get a cool hat and some comrades you'll value for life.
