The Hatteras Island Rescue Squad is seeking volunteers on Southern Hatteras Island. We are state certified in surf rescue, still water, vehicle extrication, high angle and first responder up to the paramedic level. We provide rescue services such as; ocean rescue, sound/still water rescue, vehicle extrication, high angle rescue, confined space, collapse and first responder up the the Paramedic Level. We average around 250 calls per year. There is opportunities for seasonal employment for beach patrol. In the summer months we patrol approximately 35 miles of beaches in the Cape Hatteras National Seashore performing swimming as well as jet ski based rescues along with public education and outreach. | Requirements: Active volunteers must be at least 18 years of age, have no serious criminal/traffic record.
