We welcome everyone, and no experience is needed! Mitchell County Fire Rescue utilizes a hybrid approach when training for the Firefighter 1 course, which combines online classroom work, in-person lectures, and hands-on skills training. We are a small combination fire department staffed primarily by volunteers. We are located in South West Georgia. We have 22 Stations spread over our county and constantly need volunteers to fill these stations. We offer an excellent training program and a county-paid pension plan for those who step up to the call, ensuring you have the support and resources you need to serve your community. | Requirements: - 18 years of age or older by the completion of initial training** - Hold a valid Ga driver’s license and submit a clean DMV record - No felony convictions within the last ten years - No felony convictions involving a violent crime or domestic violence - The ability to pass a background screening and drug test - The ability to meet initial certification requirements as required by the state of Georgia - The ability to meet continuing education requirements as required by the state of Georgia - Live within the response area **MCFR Junior Fire Explorer Post 1070 allows Junior Fire Explorers under 18 years of age to join as long as the applicant passes all other aspects of the application, is approved by the Post Committee, and abides by the Post’s by-laws and standard operating procedures. | Categories: Firefighter, Junior Members, Department Support

Mitchell County Fire Explorer Post 1070 is a program for area youth ages 15-19. The purpose of this program is for youth to participate in and train in firefighting activities, getting our youth ready to become certified firefighters.
