Volunteers are needed to support various activities at the Cape May National Wildlife Refuge, including helping with nature walks, managing the nature store, and participating in outreach programs. Volunteers can join board committees and contribute to the Programs, Outreach & Fundraising Committees.

Help offer healthy food choices through collaborations with local markets, restaurants, and farms. Volunteers assist in organizing and distributing food and personal necessities at the pantry, which is open three days a week.

Assist in managing the separate donation drop-off and distribution area. Volunteers help sort and distribute clothing donations to guests throughout the day.

Assist in receiving, dating, and properly storing prepared food and groceries delivered to the center and pantry. Volunteers complete donation forms and ensure food safety.

Trained volunteer advocates assist clients in navigating social service agencies for housing, substance abuse, mental health, and legal issues. Volunteers provide critical support and guidance to those in need.

During Code Blue events, assist in extending center hours when the temperature is 32°F or lower. Volunteers provide beverages and snacks, and offer a warm place for clients to wait before being transported to local warming centers.

Assist in preparing and serving warm breakfasts and lunches on weekdays and breakfast on Saturdays. This service is critical for those without access to kitchens.

Deliver food and personal care items to local recovery houses and area families housed in local motels but without transportation. Volunteers ensure timely and efficient delivery to those in need.

Help guests take showers and provide them with clean towels and personal care items. Volunteers also assist in laundering towels and maintaining the shower facilities.
