We are an all volunteer fire department, serving the Village of Capitan and a large portion of Lincoln County, New Mexico. CFD responds from 2 stations, utilizing 7 pieces of apparatus. CFD traces it history back to 1940, beginning with 2 engines and one station. Our calls range from Medical assists to commercial structure fires, with everything in between. We encourage interested persons to come by the main station, located at 217 E. Smokey Bear Blvd, the first or third Tuesdays at 7:00pm or contact any member. | Requirements: Must be 18 years old or older, no felony convictions, valid driver's license with no serious infractions within the last 7 years. Must be able to lift and carry 20+ lbs. or more. Resident of, or employed in Capitan is preferred but not required. Be willing and able to respond to alarms, attend meetings and training sessions. Want to be part of historic Lincoln, NM, walk along the steps of Billy the Kid and the Regulators? How about standing on the parade grounds where the horse soldiers once stood? The Lincoln Fire Department has a spot for you. We are a rural volunteer department, protecting one of the most historic locations in the United States. We respond from 2 stations, one located in Lincoln, NM, and the second station located at historic Ft. Stanton NM. Our department responds to a variety of calls for service, from fires to confined space rescue. We also provide mutual aid assistance as part of the Lincoln County Office of Emergency Services and to the Village of Capitan. No experience is necessary, most training will be provided at no cost and can be completed online. All protective equipment is provided at no cost. NM-PERA retirement is eligible for active volunteers.
