Must be a U.S. Citizen. Must possess a valid Maine driver’s license to be checked periodically. Must live within a ten mile radius to the Fire Department at time of application and hiring. Must be a High School Graduate or have GED equivalent. Must pass a physical examination and pre employment drug test with Health Connections. Must work toward state certified Basic Firefighter qualification (preferred goal of Firefighter 1&2 Cert). Must attend all training and meetings within the first six months of hire (absences must be approved). Must read and understand Fire Department SOGs. Must read and understand the Town of Camden’s Part time Personnel Policy. Must complete apparatus inventory training within the first three months of hire. Must have the ability to work well with others. Must pass a scaled down version of the Physical Ability Test in the first six months of hire. Must pass a full scale Physical Ability Test within one years of hire. 5 Minutes Physical Ability Test: Stair Climb: The candidate must go up and down the stairs in the apparatus bay ten times touch every step starting from the concrete floor. Pushups: The candidate must perform 15 pushups. Tool Carry: The candidate must pickup two foam buckets and carry them the length of the apparatus bay and back navigating through a serpentine cone course without hit any cones. Rescue Drag: The candidate must drag the rescue manikin 100 feet. This will be conducted between two cones that are 50 feet apart. The candidate will start at the first cone and with proper lifting techniques lift the manikin and drag it down to the second cone, around that cone and back to the first cone. The candidate will be wearing an SCBA pack on for weight (not breathing air).
