Lead night hikes, helping participants to look, listen, and take in Illinois wildlife after dark. Volunteers will guide groups through the trails and educate them about nocturnal wildlife.

Participate in volunteer days to remove invasive species, implement brush pile burns, and apply proper herbicide treatments. Volunteers will learn about land stewardship with guidance from the Chicago Wilderness Alliance and the Forest Preserve District of Will County.

Volunteers must be practicing Catholics and will receive an 8-week training program to prepare for the role, which includes communication skills, relationship issues, and suicide prevention.

Assist with managing and caring for animals during adoption events. Responsibilities include handling animals, interacting with potential adopters, and ensuring the safety and well-being of the animals during the event.

Participate in organizing and managing fundraiser events to support the rescue's mission. Tasks include setting up events, engaging with attendees, and assisting with event logistics.

Transport animals to and from adoption events or veterinary appointments. Volunteers must ensure the safe and comfortable travel of animals.

The Coal City Fire Protection District is accepting applications for paid on call firefighters. Paid on call members provide skilled firefighting, rescue, emergency medical services, fire prevention and related support activities. Work involves responsibility for participating in the provision of emergency medical services, performance of rescue and fire suppression and prevention, as well as all duties delegated by law, ordinances, rules or regulations, or practices or procedures. Work involves the operation of fire, rescue and emergency medical service equipment, and the maintenance of equipment, apparatus and quarters. Employees are required to participate in the operation of apparatus and perform hazardous tasks and skilled medical procedures under emergency conditions, which may involve strenuous exertion under such adverse conditions as fire, heat, smoke, darkness and cramped surroundings. Although firefighting and emergency medical services work are the essential and most difficult and critical areas of activity, a substantial portion of time is spent training and studying methods, techniques, procedures and maintaining District property and equipment. | Requirements: Must be 18 years of age and have completed High School, and live within the Coal City Fire Protection District boundaries. The Braceville Fire Protection District is currently seeking new probationary members. We are a volunteer fire department currently serving the Village of Braceville and unincorporated Braceville Township.
