The Monroe Township Fire Department, established in 1949 is a volunteer organization committed to serving the citizens of Henryville and Underwood of Monroe Township in northern Clark County, Indiana. We provide fire suppression, vehicle rescue, EMT/First-Responder services, swift water rescue, and rope rescue. Additionally, we serve the community by hosting events, participating in fire prevention and youth education, school tours and demonstrations, boy scout tours and demonstrations, and we are available 24/7 to assist our citizens in any way possible. | Requirements: Thank you for your interest in volunteering to serve your community. Assist in maintaining the Paintbox Garden, a vibrant oasis of color inspired by Color Theory. Volunteers will help with planting, succession planting, and ensuring blooms from Spring to Autumn, while also supporting pollinator-friendly practices.

Assist in planning, setting up, and organizing events to raise funds and educate the public about adopting Pugs. This includes hanging fliers and assisting with donations for raffle baskets.

Help by checking local shelters and online platforms for Pugs that need assistance from Bluegrass Pug Rescue. This is a rewarding role that ensures Pugs are taken to safe places for care.

Assist with preparing mailings, writing thank you notes, making phone calls to prospective adopters, sending emails, and keeping others informed of activities. May also include working on the website or monitoring the blog.

Provide essential transportation for Pugs, including getting them to foster homes, veterinary appointments, and events. A valid driver’s license and car insurance are required.

We welcome volunteers who can complete operations projects to help maintain our building and grounds. One-time volunteer opportunities are available as needed. Volunteers must be at least 14 years old.

Volunteers are needed for childcare during monthly support groups and training sessions on weekdays from 6-8pm. Must be at least 18 years old or older to participate.

Volunteers are needed for St. Joe’s Picnic For the Kids, which is the largest fundraiser hosted by the home. Opportunities include being a Zone Leader, working in raffle or gaming booths, and serving beer. Volunteers typically work for four-hour shifts and can help with set-up and clean-up before and after the event.

We welcome volunteers to assist with maintaining our Child Development Center grounds and classrooms. Tasks may include spreading sand, dirt, or mulch; cleaning classroom chairs and tables; and general playground upkeep. Volunteers must be at least 14 years old; those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult supervisor.

Help keep the waterfront free of litter and assist with planting, weeding, and caring for the park’s green spaces. Volunteers are essential in maintaining the park's beauty and sustainability.

Scarf and Story Drives help maintain Hope Scarves' collection. Volunteers collect scarves from anyone wanting to support the organization's mission and gather stories from people facing cancer.

Create dog coats, necklaces, and toys for greyhounds. Volunteers with skills in sewing, knitting, or other crafts are welcome to contribute their talents.
