Volunteers work alongside staff to improve and maintain public gardens, gaining hands-on experience in planting, propagating, pruning, and plant identification. Tools are provided, and volunteers should be prepared for outdoor work.

Engage with the community to promote local history through events, guided tours, and educational programs. Volunteers will help organize and participate in various history-related activities to raise awareness and appreciation for New Jersey's rich history.

Staff exhibit booths at fairs and special functions to promote NJ Audubon's mission and programs. Volunteers will engage with the public and provide information about the organization's conservation efforts.

The Adopt-A-Trail Program offers volunteers the opportunity to help maintain over 250 miles of trails. Volunteers can choose to be Trail Watchers, Trail Keepers, or participate in the Trail Fun Series for more complex maintenance tasks.

Gardenworks volunteers work alongside staff to improve and maintain public gardens. Tasks include planting, propagating, pruning, and plant identification. Volunteers gain hands-on experience in specialized gardens.

The MCPC regularly hosts scouts for projects towards rank advancement and service hours. Projects include construction of benches, bird blinds, and floating docks. Interested individuals should contact department leaders directly for projects that best meet their interests.

Volunteers can adopt a trail to report conditions, perform maintenance, or participate in complex trail maintenance and construction techniques. This program helps maintain over 250 miles of trails.

Assist with various office tasks such as event support, envelope stuffing for membership renewals, and general administrative duties throughout the year.

Engage in stream monitoring programs including visual assessments, chemical monitoring, and E. coli monitoring. Volunteers will participate in stream restoration events and other water quality-related programs.

Assist staff with in-classroom presentations using a hands-on watershed model to educate students about water pollution. Volunteers will receive training to confidently present in schools within the Great Swamp Watershed and Passaic River area.
