<b><u>GENERAL PURPOSE:</u></b> <br> The Volunteer Firefighter serves the community by responding to a wide variety of situations, ranging from emergencies that immediately threaten life or property to routine citizen requests for information or assistance. They perform within the scope of the policies and procedures of Laramie County Fire District #1 and they perform duties in the following general categories: fire suppression, emergency medical aid or rescue, hazardous material responses, training, building inspections and public education. <br>The Volunteer Firefighter normally works under the supervision of a company officer and is expected to function effectively as part of a highly trained team. They are also expected to perform their duties under adverse conditions and physical conditions that may pose a high risk of personal injury or exposure to hazardous conditions or infectious diseases.<br> The Volunteer Firefighter is required to attend regularly scheduled training in order to gain or maintain the high level of knowledge, skill and ability necessary to function safely and effectively as a firefighter in accordance with our standard operating procedures. The work performance of a Volunteer firefighter is continuously evaluated for general knowledge, skill proficiency, and ability to work as part of a team. Any deficiencies are corrected through remedial training.<br><br> <b><u>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:</u></b><br> The Volunteer Firefighter is a non-compensated position. The Volunteer Firefighter may be awarded a stipend in an effort to cover expenses incurred in the course of volunteering for the District. Volunteer Firefighter are assigned to a shift and expected to be at the station for a minimum of 48 hours per month and are expected to respond from home to District calls. Individuals fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of a Volunteer Firefighter will at all time present themselves in a courteous, professional and responsible manner. <br><br> <b><u>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</u></b><br> The Volunteer Firefighter drives or rides an emergency vehicle in response to fire, rescue and emergency medical events, hazardous materials response/mitigation and routine requests for help or assistance. In the performance of their duties, the Volunteer Firefighter places equipment, lays and connects hose; operates high-capacity pumps and directs water streams; raises and climbs ladders; uses chemical extinguishers, safety belts, lines and hooks and uses self-contained breathing apparatus. The Volunteer Firefighter may enter burning buildings as part of a fire suppression team, perform ventilation tasks above ground, carry heavy objects and equipment and rescue injured or trapped victims. The Social Media Volunteer will assist in managing and creating content for the organization's social media platforms. Volunteers should have experience in social media marketing and strong communication skills.

As a Tech Instructor, you will be responsible for leading workshops and teaching technical skills to participants. Volunteers should have a strong background in technology and be comfortable instructing others.

Participate in training sessions to equip educators with the skills and knowledge needed to deliver high-quality environmental education. Volunteers will engage in workshops and collaborate with other educators.

Assist with setting up and breaking down event booths, engage with visitors, and work with animals during events. Volunteers can choose their shifts and contribute to creating a welcoming atmosphere.

Help with website maintenance and grant writing to support the organization's operations. Volunteers with computer skills and writing abilities are encouraged to contribute to these essential tasks.

Volunteers will provide general office and administrative support to the organization. Tasks may include data entry, filing, and assisting with event coordination.

Capture and edit photos for events, projects, and promotional materials. Volunteers with photography skills can help document the organization's work and create engaging content.

Participate in Farm Work Days to provide care and attention to rescued animals. Volunteers will spend quality time with animals, assist with various tasks around the rescue, and help maintain a positive environment.

Volunteers help maintain a pollinator habitat at the Laramie County Library by assisting with site design, plant selection, and ongoing maintenance to support local pollinator species and provide a native seed source.

Volunteers provide information booths at local Farmer's Markets and the County Fair during the summer, and host monthly 'Garden Talks' at the Laramie County Library during the winter. They assist the community with gardening advice and education.

Volunteers work with the Youth Education Committee to offer gardening workshops for the Boys & Girls Club After-School and Summer Programs. They help youth maintain community gardens and teach them about growing vegetables, herbs, flowers, and fruit trees.

Volunteers assist in creating a native plant landscape at Cheyenne Regional Airport. Responsibilities include designing and planting native species to enhance civic beautification and ecological sustainability.

Assist in creating and providing educational resources and tutoring to students in underfunded areas. Volunteers will work directly with students to enhance their learning experience and improve educational outcomes.

Support the Hope Across Borders team with administrative tasks and project management. Volunteers will assist in organizing and maintaining records, coordinating schedules, and supporting project execution.

Help organize events and campaigns to raise funds and awareness for Hope Across Borders. Volunteers will collaborate with the team to plan, execute, and manage events that support the organization's mission.

Engage with local communities to spread awareness about the importance of educational access. Volunteers will participate in outreach activities and help build relationships with community members.

LCFD#2 is seeking intelligent, highly motivated individuals who have prior Fire and Emergency services experience to become a volunteer member. Candidates will attend a 4-6 week in house lateral recruit academy.
