The Cisco Fire Department will begin a “Paid On Call” firefighter to work either 12 or 24 hours shifts. The department will pay $100.00 for 24 hours and $50.00 for 12 hour shifts. Paid On Call firefighters are NOT considered full time or part-time firefighters for the City of Cisco. This program is designed for our current and future volunteer firefighters to gain experience and work towards a Texas firefighter certification; or members from other departments, that meet the minimum requirements, on their days off. The Cisco Fire Department is a certified training facility through the Texas Commission on Fire Protection and the State Fireman and Fire Marshals Association of Texas. | Requirements: Must have or able to obtain TCFP – Basic Structural Firefighting Certification or State Fireman and Fire Marshalls Association of Texas within a reasonable time determined by the fire chief and training staff. Must have completed The Emergency Medical Responder Class http://www.trainingdivision.com/ems-training/emergency-medical-responder/, or ECA certification within a reasonable time determined by the fire chief and training staff. Must complete all required NIMS classes, 100, 200, 700 and 800 within 6 months Must complete the online Courage to Be Safe by the end of the first shift worked. Must complete the online Traffic Incident Safety Course within 6 months. Must have or be able to obtain Class B (Exempt) license within 6 months. Must pass a criminal background check. The tuition for any required schools will be provided by the fire department, most of it is paid with HB 2604 grant funds. The fire department trains the first and third Tuesday of each month, Paid On Call firefighters will train with full time staff on every shift worked to prepare for all emergency situations, daily station duties and other duties assigned by the station captain or the fire chief. PROCESS: 1.Complete a firefighter application that can be obtained at the fire department or on our website at www.ciscofd.com 2. You will be required to pass a basic PAT test which includes SCBA fit testing, dummy drag, charged hose drag, climb 5 stories in full PPE in a reasonable amount of time determined by the fire chief and training staff. ***NOTE Anyone wanting to use their own gear from their department or privately owned must show proof of advanced inspection and cleaning within the last year in accordance with NFPA 1851. The City of Cisco is growing town with a promising future, we have 1 fire station that we run out of and we are an ISO 4. We run about 1000 calls a year which includes non-emergency responses, mutual aid to other areas of the county, motor vehicle accidents, structure fires, wildland fires, Haz-Mat and EMS. our station is manned 24 hours per day 7 days a week.
