Volunteers are needed to prepare and serve homemade meals for residents at the Dismas Houses. This role involves cooking and sharing meals with residents, fostering community and connection.

As a VITA volunteer, you will assist low- to moderate-income individuals and families with free tax preparation services. This role helps ensure that underserved populations receive the tax credits and refunds they are entitled to, making a significant impact in their financial well-being.

The West Rutland Fire Department has been providing emergency services to the Town of West Rutland since 1891. Our Department provides fire protection, hazardous materials response, and rescue services to the residents and visitors of West Rutland and our surrounding communities through mutual aid. We are staffed with approximately 20 volunteer/call firefighters who are on call and respond when an emergency occurs. The West Rutland Fire Department is well-equipped with a fleet of 6 on-road vehicles and 1 off-road vehicle, a full compliment of modern firefighting and rescue equipment, and dedicated Firefighters who pride themselves in their skills and community service. We are housed in a modern fire station and meet regularly to further our training. The Department answers approximately 100 emergency calls for service each year. Our members enjoy a close camaraderie in a friendly environment where everyone works together to serve our community. | Requirements: 1. Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age; and 2. Must be physically fit and medically cleared to perform the duties of a Firefighter; and 3. Must be a legal resident of the Town of West Rutland; and 4. Must possess a valid Vermont Operator’s License; and 5. Must be a citizen in good standing as proven through reference and criminal background checks. Our members must complete Firefighter I training within the first year of membership and maintain annual training as required by the Department. All personal protective equipment and training is provided at no cost to the Firefighter. We are currently looking for a couple of people to join the Proctor Volunteer Fire Dept. The role would be as a Vermont State Certified firefighter, We will send you to the fire academy for your training. We also meet at the fire station monthly to provide training and work on Maintenace of the equipment. We meet on the first, second and third Monday of the month at 6pm. We typically respond to about 50 calls for service every year and they vary in nature. Collaborate with the PDRC to plan and execute community events that promote Poultney's downtown. Responsibilities include event planning, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring successful event execution.

Assist in maintaining and beautifying Poultney's downtown through gardening and streetscaping projects. Volunteers will help with planting, weeding, and general upkeep of community green spaces.

Support the PDRC's marketing efforts by assisting with social media posts, creating promotional materials, and engaging with the community to raise awareness about downtown initiatives.
